CEMENT OFFERINGS

Beavertown Block Co., Inc. offers a complete line of cement products, including:

Portland Cement
Type I: Used for most construction and considered a general-purpose cement, Type I is also available with air entertainment agents mixed with the cement to insure greater endurance of concrete exposed to freeze/thaw conditions.
Type II: Commonly referred to as a sulfate- resistant cement, Type II is used to increase the endurance of concrete exposed to ground water or sewage disposal liquids or in mass concrete pours where heat or hydration is an issue.
Type III: Best known as high early cement, Type III will develop higher strength earlier in the curing process. Type III is often used on cold weather projects.
Portland/Hydrated Lime Cement (PLC): Generally made with Type I cement and hydrated lime, it is also available with air entertainment. Available in premixed bags in N, S, or M strength or can be job site mixed combining Portland Cement and hydrated lime in proper proportions.

Masonry Cement
Type N: A general-purpose masonry cement well-suited for veneer and interior wall applications.
Type S: Achieves a high tensile bond strength for structures subject to normal compressive load but requiring a high flexural bond strength.
Type M: A high-strength masonry cement providing greater durability than other types. Used for both reinforced and unreinforced masonry that may be subject to high compressive loads, severe frost action, or high lateral loads.
Colored Portland, Portland/Lime, and Masonry Cement: All of the above cements are available in colors to match or contrast with our custom colored architectural concrete masonry units.
White Portland and Masonry Cement: Available to meet most applications in Portland, Portland/Lime, and Masonry cement.

DUR-O-WAL

DUR-O-WAL provides a complete line of masonry assemblies, joint reinforcement, anchors, ties, and connectors. Products are designed for new construction, seismic construction, repair and restoration, and anywhere masonry connections are required by code.

Anchors and ties are types of connectors which attach masonry to a structural support system or connect two or more wythes of masonry together.

Regardless of whether connectors are being used to connect wythes of masonry, intersecting walls, or masonry walls to structural framework, they play a very important role in providing structural integrity and good serviceability.

Connectors should meet the following criteria:
1) Transmit out-of-plane loads from one wythe of masonry to another or from masonry to its lateral support with a minimum amount of deformation.
2) Allow differential in plane movement between the wythe being connected and the masonry backup.
3) Resist corrosion.
4) Accommodate construction by being simple in design and easy to install.

KORFIL UNIVERSAL IN-CORE INSULATION

Korfil one-size molded expandable polystyrene inserts are designed to compress to fit the cores of all masonry units.

At your request, Beavertown Block Co., Inc. can insert Korfil into the cores of the block at the plant. Korfil provides significant improvement in the thermal efficiency of masonry walls and eliminates the need for job site labor.

Korfil comes in two styles to meet most job site conditions. Korfil Hi-R to achieve up to R17.5 and Korfil Icon to achieve up to R 8.

Other significant features of Korfil include:
Allows space within the cores for moisture to escape
Allows easy installation of utilities within the wall
Has no effect on the fire rating of conventional concrete block walls
Improves dewpoint and sound transmission resistance
